Romancing The Doll
Vinyl 12" Shirley Temple Doll Clothing Lot Ideal 1957-on
$75
Each doll speaks the sweet language of days gone by . . .
Offering interesting dolls, clothing, and accessories--
This lot of doll clothes include pieces manufactured by the Ideal Doll Company from 1957-on for their 12" vinyl Shirley Temple doll, such as Shirley's raincoat #9540. Included also are a pair of red footed tights and a cinched waist tan coat with coordinating hood that may belong to Shirley. The other pieces may have been manufactured by lesser known companies to compete with Ideal's Shirley Temple fashions or handsewn by mothers. All fashions are untagged.
Included are the following.
1. Shirley Temple's taupe Raincoat #9540 with rain bonnet and clear tote bag-- Though unused, the raincoat and bonnet sustain age related soil and tea
colored spotting (interior of raincoat).
2. A pair of red tights with feet-- The tights (relaxed waist) possibly belong to Shirley's skater outfit #9561.
3. A taupe coat and coordinating hood-- In crispy and unused condition, I was unable to verify that this commercially made coat and hood belong to
Shirley.
4. Turquoise tunic set with daisy appliqué-- This set was either made by a lesser known company or Mommy-made. It sustains light soil, pilling, and
stitching repairs, more notably along the white piping edge that decorates the lower front pocket.
5. A yellow peignoir set-- The yellow rosebud printed dressing gown is sturdy, though its lower left inside sustains dark spotting and stitching flaws
along its hemline. The flocked yellow nylon nightgown edged in black lace is structurally sound. This fashion was either commercially or mommy made.
6. Three-piece blue rosebud printed rayon pajamas set-- This set remains in nice condition and is probably mommy-made. The pajamas bottoms
waistband has stretched.
Ideal made a raincoat like Shirley's for their Little Miss Revlon doll. Some of these fashions may fit other 12" slim bodied dolls or larger, past and present.
