This large low relief glazed tile dates from the late 19th century & appears to be the work of sculptor & artist Issac Broome. Broome was a Canadian immigrant to the United States & helped create an American art tile style & industry. This tile identified as "Parthenia" in the upper left area is a detailed profile of a beautiful classic Greek woman. The tile features warm honey color hues under a wonderful crackle glaze finish & is stylishly framed in a golden, decorated wood frame.
