Here is a really wonderful doll, I never come across these... This was made by Ada Bridgman Odenrider and it is called "Mother & Child" The doll is wonderfully made, she has a tiny little doll in her hand and a wonderful detailed happy expression. The doll stands just shy of 10" tall. The doll does require a doll stand unless you wish to sit her in a chair, simply the way she was made..a cloth middle and what "looks" Like wood legs and her head looks be made out some terra-cotta with wonderful detailed painting and carving. The doll maker Ada Bridgman Odenrider was known also has a dress maker for dolls or costumes that dated from the 1800's and on.... She made this doll in the late 1940's. You may come across the China Head dolls but to find one like this is rare...and looks exactly like the one's in the Museum. The Artist dolls have been exhibited in many Museums and even the Charles W. Bower Memorial Museum in California... where only the rarest of dolls are invited and displayed. In fact, this looks like one of the dolls that was in the Museum. The doll is rare and you will find it hard to find another, with her old tag and her hand written name and description. The doll has wonderful character and no detail has been missed. She has caused a bit of a stir around here as she is so different looking. Please take a moment to view our other items.
