English Victorian Cylinder Bureau - Superior Fitted Interior - c1870. An exceptional Mahogany English Victorian cylinder bureau with very pleasing proportions and a stunning Pigeon hole fitted interior with several tooled leather surfaces resting over interior well areas with hidden drawers.
Rising from twin pedestals with curved continuous plinth, the bureau offers three generously sized full length drawers complete with original twin pulls and a beautifully crafted turned wood gallery on the top.
This bureau has an amazing presence with a superior warm Mahogany color tone and patina to the piece.
The cylinder top is complete with working lock and key - it opens smoothly to provide a slide forward writing surface. Four Gold tooled leather surfaces provide document storage with the center one elevating to an adjusted angle to act as a reading or writing slope.
The hugely desirable interior delivers robust drawers with the original pulls decorated with beautiful Birdseye Maple on the drawer fronts along with the cut out pigeon hole areas. This bureau is solidly crafted throughout, has strong dovetails, wonderful craftsmanship, and will make a fine addition to any home.
