A very nice example of an early Birch and figured Mahogany Two piece American Bookcase most likely of New England origin possibly New Hampshire around 1830-40. This is a very pretty bookcase desk in great overall condition retaining an older refinish exhibiting a nice warm aged color and patina. The fold down cloth lined writing surface over rests over Three graduated figured Mahogany veneered drawers. The top portion of this desk has a very nice fitted interior with all nicely dovetailed drawers.
Measurements: 54” High x 40” wide x 20 1/4” deep.
Condition: Very good, mostly all original overall condition. Minor veneer repairs replacements and old repairs to the stiles on the doors throughout the years. Small drawer pulls are originals, large drawer pulls are a later replacement. All drawers in very good condition and working properly. Replaced cloth writing surface. Original key and working lock.
