A nicely proportioned figured Mahogany and Birch American Sheraton Chest. This piece was probably made in Pennsylvania dates to about 1830-40 and has a very nice color and aged patina to the finish. The really unique thing about this chest is the stenciled back. Someone at some point either when it was made or later in it’s years put a beautiful hand stenciled design on the entire back of the chest. I have never come across this before and really am not sure why or when it was done but it is a great unique feature to this piece. The secondary case wood and drawer construction is made out of Pine.
