A fine French Bonnet top Buffet Deux Corps probably from the Normandy area of France. This piece dates from the late 18th / early late 19th Century and in very good condition. A well proportioned two part cupboard with nicely carved molded detail throughout. The matching original locks are operating on both sets of doors and I do have one of the original keys. It appears that there may or may not have been glazed glass panels in the doors, but may have been removed at some point in time. New restoration Glass panels or Chicken or some other decorative wire can always be reinstalled back in the doors for an extra fee if required.
The rear feet have had 3/4” pieces of wood added to them most likely from age usage or water damage at some point in it’s life. The top section has two original shelves. This is a very heavy solid cupboard with all the original pieces and hardware including the long continuous hinges on the doors and the iron clasps on the shelves that keeps the inactive doors secure.
This piece retains an old refinish with a French polish surface that has a great warm color and patina showing all the usual age and use marks through the years.
