A very fine early 18th Century French Walnut side table. This is a beautiful early French table with a great color and patina. The top is constructed with a planked and pegged breadboard end design sitting over a molded apron and a single long drawer. The Barley twist legs surround the nicely formed and famous X stretcher base design resting on five original ball feet. All pegged construction on a classic style table that retains a very old surface. The drawer has a chamfered area on the underside of the face to pull it open and what is truly exceptional is that through all its life no one has ever tried to put any hardware on it which I believe is a nice rare find on a piece this early.
Condition: Very good. Some old minor repairs to the X stretcher and ball feet , great old surface restored in areas where needed . Usual age marks for a piece of this era. A couple of the ball feet have small pieces that have gone missing through the years. Excellent color and patina. Surface has been lightly cleaned and waxed.
