Federal Five drawer Cherry Chest New England 1815-1820. This is a very nice graduated Five drawer chest retaining an old refinish condition exhibiting a great color and patina to the Cherry. The top has a double string Inlay on the edges and shows signs of the Cherry sap wood. I believe the hardware to be old and period but may be a latter replacement but it is appropriate for the age of the piece.
Secondary woods are Pine and Poplar. As seen in the photos the drawer bottoms are fastened in the back of the drawer by wood plugs instead of nails. Some minor old repairs to the sides of the rear feet. The drawers are in very good condition and slide smoothly in the case.
