NOTE 1: Pictures were taken on a life size mannequin.
I sell this antique piece of jewelry as I found it in an antique store: 15.5" long 9K yellow gold chain with antique rolled gold padlock charm (without the key to it).
The 9ct gold chain is a nice piece in perfect condition. The round spring closure is marked 9ct and the ring is hallmarked as follows: WJS, a crown (symbol for gold used before the year 1932), 375 (9ct gold content), an anchor (for the city of Birmingham assay office), letter D. All the links of the chain are ribbed on both sides. The chain can be worn as a necklace (you can add few more gold rings or a small extension chain by the closure) or wrapped around the wrist as a double chain bracelet. Very lovely and consistent in looks. Weight of the 9ct chain is 7.2 grams.
The padlock piece is an antique charm pendant missing the key. The padlock is nicely ornate with swirls of repousse work and the rolled gold on it is still shiny despite the few signs of wear. The measurements of the padlock are: 23 mm long x 15 mm wide x 4 mm wide.
An antique English chain with double function (necklace or bracelet would be a great addition to any jewelry collection.
