I've had this show-stopping parure in my collection for several years. I listed it once and couldn't bear to part with it at the time so it went back in my collection. Wear when you desire a LOT of glamour and attention. It is simply grand (much more dazzling than the photos) and exquisitely crafted. Not all Haskell pieces are made this way. In fact, the necklace probably has the finest, most beautiful filigree that I have seen in Haskell pieces. I estimate this set to be from the 1960's.
It's finest feature other than the filigree, are the spectacular domed pate de verre glass cabochons ~ large, luminous (open backed) and utterly captivating. Clear with swirling 'white clouds'. Forget the grays and the yellows I couldn't seem to extract from the photos- these pieces exhibit a high karat gold setting and clear and WHITE stones. The swirled glass cabochons appear to be the same stones as used in the coveted Crown Trifari Jewels of India series as faux emeralds. The large rhinestones also command awe ~ while they have larger flat tops, they seem to be endlessly faceted ~ and give fine white diamonds a run for their money! All some of the photos are showing the stones to be capturing a golden hue from the settings, they are indeed white. Beautiful gold plating is fully intact ~richly matte with a warm glow and light bronze patina to the prongs. More high karat looking than the photos convey, we dialed back some of the gold to offset the yellow captured in the rhinestones. Again, this one set that needs to to be seen in person.
