The alluring beauty of these pieces cannot be overstated. The craftsmanship and elements employed are beyond reproach. But for the "Austria" stamp on top of the clip mechanism on the earrings, I would be almost certain they were from the hand of Henry Schreiner, whose pieces were often unsigned. The unrivaled art glass, extraordinary crystal rhinestones and exemplary construction all point to the hand of a master. Some of the most exemplary examples of costume jewelry were crafted in Austria, employing the finest materials and construction.
Against a backdrop of highly polished gold plated metal bursts a spectacular display of black and mottled "frosted bronze rose" art glass cabochons. At first I though it was sitara midst the black glass (a glass and copper creation) but the glass has much more dimensionality than that. Heavenly and haunting all at once, theses stones are immersed in brilliant honey topaz rhinestones. The brooch is accented with what appears to be black rhinestones with an aurora borealis coating - flashing deep purple, royal blue and silver green.
An elegant and quite costly creation which will not go unnoticed. A bit of a mystery as to the origin somehow adds to the hypnotic quality of the set.
Brooch measures 3 1/4" long and 2 1/4" at its widest point. Earrings measure 1" long and 3/4" wide.
Excellent vintage condition with no flaws to report. Gorgeous.
