Of the generations of fine Hobé designers, William Hobé was not only a renowned master craftsman, he was a costume historian who went to painstaking lengths to create jewelry that was perfectly synchronized with the fashion of the times. According to an old Mayfair Magazine article "A connoisseur of antique jewelry, Hobé interprets historical designs into modern settings, forgoing none of the original artistry, no matter the price." This particular parure highlights the glory days of William Hobé.
Impeccable rhinestones run an intriguing color gamut: intense aquamarine and rich sapphire blue contrast a rare deep peridot green. Crowning the wonderfully tiered pieces are exceptionally rendered leaves of clear rhinestones set in a fabulous faux platinum metal. The bracelet's clasping mechanism is also a fabulous "platinum and diamond" look, accented by what appears to be an exquisitely colored sapphire stone - hard to believe it's a crystal! Of course a bracelet this lovely is complete with a safety chain for security.
Oval tags bearing the signature used during the period of William Hobe - "Hobé" with the elongated "H" - appear on the back of the pieces.
All pieces carry the Hobé signature with the elongated "H" tag appearing on the bracelet and brooch. This lovely parure dates to the mid-20th century.
The condition is excellent with no apparent flaws. The bracelet measures 7 3/4" x 1 1/8"; brooch measures a substantial 3" by 1 1/8" at it's widest; earrings 1 1/4" by 1".
A wonderful addition to any fine costume collection.
