From the hand of the famous father of "Op Art", in which geometric designs (often of bright, seemingly vibrating colors) form the entire image, is this primarily brown and yellow colors serigraph measuring 34 1/2" by 18" image and 49" by 32" framed, signed at bottom right in sharp pencil "Vasarely" and numbered 137/325 at bottom left. VICTOR VASARELY was born in Hungary in 1908 and passed away in 1997. His images were a part of pop culture in the 1960's and 1970's especially, and it is with those decades that the Op Art movement is most closely associated. This example was framed in the year 1990 so the image might have been created in the 1980's at the latest. It is in excellent condition in its black plastic frame and complementary black mat showing some wear at lower bottom. Not examined out of the frame. There is a lot of information on the artist available on the net. His original acrylic paintings sell for tens of thousands of dollars at modern and contemporary art auctions in Europe and the United States. E
