A PAIR gouache on paper drawings of a simple landscape with figures and boats, trees, the tropical seas in coastal Brazil, all paintings are identical size and measures 7 1/2" by 11" inside the mat (16" by 20" as framed in high quality frames), each signed at lower right by the noted Brazilian artist REINALDO MANZKE (1906-1980). Manzke is quite well listed, (including Benezit), though not well known in the United States. Born in Santa Catarina, Brazil, he first exhibited in 1939 in Sao Paolo, and then, received a number of awards in the 1940's, participating in the Bienal of Sao Paolo in 1951. It has been suggested that he sold his works, (often, picturing an early Brazil), to tourists staying in Rio de Janeiro hotels, as his paintings are widely disseminated internationally. This piece is very clean and fresh. I suggest discarding the non-glare style glass, which blurs detail. The paintings are on excellent condition and ready to hung on your wall.
