Large oil on masonite board painting of the countryside with cows at rest in the precious shade under a large oak tree, low hills in the distance, 30" by 40" and 41" by 52" framed, signed in capital letters at lower left by listed southwestern artist BILL SHADDIX (1931-). The condition is ivery good, just some flaking of the paint on both upper corners. Shaddix was born in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl, and emigrated to California by the early 1940's with his family. A deputy sheriff in Orange County by 1956, he began to paint, and eventually turned full time to his fine art. He settled in Phoenix, immersed there in the romance and splendor of the great Southwest. His finished fine paintings are generally landscapes, some with figures. Encino
