This is an oil on Masonite panel painting of an elderly holy man, possibly of the Jewish faith, by listed California painter and craftsman Leon d'Usseau 1918-1991. D'Usseau (who simplified his name to "Dusso", which is how he signed most of his paintings), was the son of a Paramount Studios art director. He studied at Chouinard with Merrill Gage. Dusso's style is distinctive and quickly recognizable, often seeming almost mural-like, employing subtle earth tone colors. His works appear with some frequency in Southern California. The measures 16" by 12" and20" by 16" framed. This painting is in excellent condition.
