This is an old, circa 1920 small landscape oil on board, 6" by 5" and 9 1/2" by 8 1/4" framed, apparently unsigned on the front, but on the tattered old framing paper that clings to the framing, we can barely make out old pencil writing, including "Sunset Glow Near San Antonio", and, possibly the name of the artist, Dorothy Smith. This name if correct does not appear to be a listed painter. The painting has decades of grime and would likely brighten up dramatically if cleaned and varnished. Early Texas paintings by the Onderdonks, who painted in this area, bring in the tens of thousands. Perhaps Dorothy Smith was familiar with them and their works.
