Adalbert Wex was a German artist, known today for his luminous mountain and moor landscapes of southern Germany. A number of works have sold at auction in Europe. This example measures 11" by 17 1/2", and 13 1/2" by 20" framed. The subject is a landscape, high distant mountain peaks snow-covered, and several houses at left, while some logs on the bank of a small lake occupy the foreground. The painting likely dates to the 1920's or very early 1930's. condition is very good, no tears noted and stable paint. The frame is much later, circa 1960's or 1970's.
