Pleasant traditional European painting of an Old World classic narrow street, a wagon being loaded or unloaded with a commodity that might well be coal. Two figures balance the scene. Almost certainly this is by a listed artist, but there does not appear to be a signature. Stretcher is French, and there is a label from H. Appenzeller, a Zurich, Switzerland art dealer. Measurements (unframed) 13" by 9 1/2". A gold frame will really enhance the work. Other than some frame abrasions around the edges, and just a little more tiny loss at lower left, the condition is good, though there is no varnish. A cleaning/varnish while not mandatory would be well worth the investment.
