The beautifully crafted, technically advanced color print is after Manet's famous "Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe". Artist Paul Louis Guilbert, born 1886 and still at work at mid 20th century (biographical information is sorely lacking on this talented artist), was a self-taught artist, primarily, though he received lessons in graphic art from Manuel Robbe. By the mid 1920's he had decided to pursue his art full time, exhibiting at the Salon des Independants. The artist is known as a chronicler of Paris. The present work, which measures 11" by 17" and 20 1/2" by 26" in modern framing, is pencil signed at lower right margin and is numbered 21/100 at lower left. The print is very clean and the colors are bright and fresh.
