The print is woodcut on paper, measuring 21" by 13" in mat and 28" by19" framed, pencil signed by the artist at lower right, numbered 1/1 at lower left and titled there "Nude" and " Unique color" . Amen's works are most commonly prints, as he is considered a master print maker in woodblock, etching, lithography and silk screen, but he also executed oils and acrylics, in the course of a long career. The subject is a nude woman. Amen's imagery has focused on children, and Jewish themes. Amen was born in New York and was precocious, exhibiting in his teens. After World War II he worked in the US and Belgium on murals (you can see from this work why he'd be successful as a muralist). He exhibited at the New School for Social Research. Later in life he has taught print making and sculpting, and as of the 1990's he is recorded as a resident of Boca Raton, Florida. See the net for more on the artist. The print is in excellent condition, the frame has some wear. E
