A pencil signed print from near the end of his long and productive life, by the noted American caricaturist, ALBERT (AL) HIRSCHFELD (1903-2003). This print 18 1/2" by 21 1/2" inside the frame and 23" by 26" as framed in high quality silver wood frame, is in excellent, fresh, clean condition.
The work, in his typical black and white for which he is famous (although he did also work in color), features a a young lady taking art classes at the restaurant. It is numbered edition 17/50 at lower left and pencil signed by the artist at lower right. Hirschfeld was known for his caricatures of the famous from all walks of life---celebrities, Broadway, music---and more. Born in St. Louis, he was in New York while young, attending there the Art Students League. His fame grew as the century progressed.
