For the collector of Alaskan art, an unusual circa 1950's oil on canvas board painting of an Alaska "Sourdough" old timer, his prominent portrait dominating a more extensive landscape which includes mountains, traditional cabin, and totem pole. On the reverse is a lengthy inscription "YUKON SOUR DOUGH ". The artist is one Monte Johnson, of Duluth, Minnesota (also, as per inscription). I have not been able to located information on the artist. A most unusual piece of Alaska folk art.
The painting measures 16" by 12" and 23 1/2" by 18 1/2" as framed in brown wood frame. The condition is very good. St
