A large size unframed engraving "Washington And His Family", circa 1870, after painting by Edward Savage (1789–1796), the work much in the style of similar Currier and Ives lithographs of the period. The publisher was Joseph Hoover, Philadelphia, and engraving and printing by A I Weise (this information in the margin). The sheet measures 20" by 26". There is hand coloring throughout---green, violet, yellow, blue. The print is darkened with age, the paper heavily browned, there are edge tears, discolorations including a vertical brown line where old wood backing boards would have met. Most significantly from a condition perspective, there is a piece of the margin at bottom center that is missing, below the vignette of the eagle, and the lettering. In good condition high end printsellers offer this print over $1000.
