Charcoal on paper original drawing signed illegibly at lower right, the subject a seated lady at left, in a Gothic style church entry area. The artist is no doubt listed but deciphering the signature is challenging. The paper is laid on a thin card; interestingly on the back of that is a circa 1950's commercial illustrator's mock-up ad for "Sears Department Managers". The drawing is very accomplished--note the handling of light and shadow. The solitary, maybe lonely lady at left even suggests a bit of Edward Hopper. Measurements are 22" by 17" and 28 1/2" by 24 1/5" with the frame. The condition is very good, the mat needs to be replaced. E
