This is a dramatically striking and glamorous, 1940's vintage, floor length, black satin charmeuse gown with a wide cummerbund-type of belt which has been embellished with gold leather appliqued cut-out designs. This typically 1940's silhouette has a very flattering neckline, slightly padded shoulders, a slightly ruched bodice, and a flared and ample floor length skirt. The gown has a long zipper for closure. It measures 18" across the bust line, 14" across the waist line, and 17.5" across the hip line. It is in remarkably good vintage condition with the exception of a few minor nicks in the fabric including one in the front of the skirt near the zipper and one on the left sleeve area, which I have photographed. There are about three additional ones at the back of the skirt near the hem line area. None of these are too noticeable due to the voluminous amount of fabric used. The gown would be equivalent to a modern day Size Small or Size 6.
