This striking black crepe and gold sequined gown with its square, wide shoulders, fitted defined waist, long narrow skirt with draping details, and a large bow at the hip epitomizes the 1940's silhouette. There were, no doubt, shoulder pads which the previous owner had removed. The bodice is slightly fitted with gold sequins running horizontally across the front of the gown. The gown has a side zipper for closure and a narrow belt in the back to further define the fitted waist line. The sash at the hip line has two small pinhead-sized holes which are not really detectable. Otherwise, the gown is in near mint condition. The bust line measures 34", the waist measures 26.5", and the hips measure 33.5". I believe this would be equivalent to a Size 6-Size 8 in today's modern sizing standards.
