This extraordinary 1920's Art Deco piece of "wearable art" has been exquisitely hand-beaded depicting lotus blossoms, leaves, and an heron in hues of white, pale pink, and pale coral. The impeccably executed bead work on black background evokes a definite Asian motif and feel about it. The gown is in excellent vintage condition, must be slipped over one's head to be worn, and would be equivalent to a modern day Size 4-Size 6.
It had been purchased several years ago at a vintage clothing auction and at that time had been attributed to having belonged to the late Diana Vreeland, according to its previous owner.
