This is a superb example of the 1920's style in Orientalism. This wonderful viridian green silk velvet cocoon opera coat depicts all of the interest the fashion world had at the time in the exotic flavors of the Orient. This luxurious wrap coat has huge kimono-like sleeves, a pleated neckline, two velvet covered buttons for closure, and an attached beaded over-vest. The vest drapes beautifully around the bodice in a loose manner and has been exquisitely embellished with gold metallic thread and green and gold crystal beads in a stylized Art Deco floral design. The vest has two snaps at the left shoulder for closure and a single snap at the bottom, left side for closure. The coat is floor length and measures 52" long, and 56" at the bust line, waist line, and the hip line. The coat is in minty condition and had been relined in black silk. It definitely exudes the luxury and opulence of that decade in its couture-like design elements and construction.
