This is a very rare and handsome, antique (1910-1914) red, single-breasted, "Colonel on the Staff", British military jacket/tunic, probably made for a very lean colonel /officer. Officers had been required to pay for their own uniforms and each was custom-made, resulting in many variations and modifications. It is in exceptionally good vintage condition, consistent with its age and use. All of the very detailed metal buttons are present and accounted for including the eight going down the center of the jacket, three at each sleeve, and six at the back panel. The interior of the jacket is as finely crafted as the exterior of the jacket is. The trapunto stitching is quite remarkable. There is a minimal amount of moth damage to the edge of the collar, which I have photographed, otherwise the jacket is in exceptionally good vintage condition. Its size would be comparable to a modern day women's Size 6, although made for a man. The tunic's measurements include: Chest-17.5" across, Waist-16" across, Hips-18.5" across, Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam, back-15.5".
Reduced from $2500. to $2000.
