This is a superb 1950's vintage, double-breasted, violet woolen jacket with a full chinchilla collar, designed by Dan Millstein of New York and Paris. Millstein was a well known New York fashion designer of formal jackets, suits, and coats during the 1950's and 1960's and he had designed the suit Marilyn Monroe had worn when she had wed Joe DiMaggio in 1954. Another claim to celebrity fame was the fact that Calvin Klein had worked as an apprentice to Millstein from 1962-1968.
The jacket is beautifully constructed with eight buttons, four used for closure and four for decorative purposes, an invisible pocket at each side, a double bow sewn in at the neckline area, and a full chinchilla collar , soft and supple. The jacket is in excellent vintage condition, both inside and out, and would be equivalent to a modern day Size 6 or a Size Small.
