This is a stunning 1920's vintage, deep Prussian Blue, silk velvet coat with a full white fox collar that frames the face beautifully. The coat is a wrap around in style and has no fasteners for closure, Consequently, it would easily accommodate a Small/Medium/Large figure type.
The sleeves are full and each has a lovely ruching effect at each wrist. The coat is lined in a soft white silk and is in excellent vintage condition.
The label is tact and reads, "B. Altman & Company-Paris-New York". B. Altman and Company had been a luxury department store chain whose flagship store had been located on Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. It had opened in 1865 and closed its doors in 1989. It had been known for its gentility and conservatism and this piece of inventory attests to those characteristics.
