This is an outstanding antique, circa 1905, Japanese Imperial Army partial, full dress uniform, in all probability once belonging to a high ranking official. The jacket has been authenticated by a reputable militaria expert/dealer from PA. The pants, although purchased with the jacket, are not original to the uniform and are not included. The jacket has been displayed on a female mannequin only because it is too small for any male mannequin. The jacket measures 15.5" across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam and 35" around the chest. It measures 32.5" from the top of its back collar to the hem line of the jacket. Each sleeve measures 21.5" from the shoulder's seam to its cuff. The jacket has a total of 26 beautifully detailed brass buttons with the traditional Japanese floral design, and all are present and accounted for. The gold braiding and embroidery work which appears at the collar and at each sleeve is really of couture-like quality and design elements. The label of the jacket is present and in tact and reads
"S. Tsudaya Tokyo, Japan". The jacket is n remarkably good antique condition with the exception being that there are a few areas where the gold braiding needs to be reattached and the collar is fraying a bit, which I have photographed.
