Offered for sale is this superb, 1930's vintage, pink and black flocked ball gown with black silk velvet detailing, and of couture-like design elements and construction. The crinoline is a stiff fabric probably made of a horsehair blend. On top of the crinoline, there is a layer of pale pink fabric which is again topped-off with layers of pink tulle. These numerous layers are then covered by a beautifully sheer, transparent fabric which has been flocked in such a manner that it replicates the texture of a fine hand-made lace. The bodice has been trimmed and ruched in a wide band of black silk velvet and the back of the gown also has a black silk velvet modified bustle treatment under which lies a large panel of black silk velvet. The gown has hooks and eyes for closure and snaps at the back to hold the bustle in place. A large spray of pink flowers accentuates the left hip. The spray of flowers does have some old residual stains, possibly old glue stains. Otherwise, the gown is in excellent vintage condition and would be comparable in size to a modern day Size 6.
