This is an exquisite and elaborately hand-embroidered pearl gray silk robe depicting fierce dragons and cloud formations on the large collar, cuffs, sides, and on the entire back of the robe. The embroidery is executed masterfully in pale green, pale blue, soft white with gold couching (the laying down of threads and fastening them with tiny stitches at regular intervals). The robe is in remarkably excellent vintage condition, consistent with its age and use, with the exception of some small and faint brownish marks, one being the size of a pinhead and the other being slightly larger. There are also some faint brownish marks on the upper right shoulder area, mostly covered by the large and impressive collar. The lining of the robe is in excellent vintage condition, has two frog closures and would accommodate any S/M/L figure type.
