Painted pottery figure of a bearded foreigner riding a horse, with a finely molded head and pricked ears that is turned downward and facing to the right, standing four-square on a plinth. The figure has sharply defined facial features and is wearing a beard, possibly a Sogdian groom from Central Asia. The results of the Oxford Authentication Ltd. Thermoluminescence test No. C104u48 C205c5 is consistent with the dating of this piece. Origin: China Age: Tang Dynasty (618-906) Height: 17 1/2" (44.5 cm)
