Antique Japanese lacquer chest of a rectangular form with intricately lacquer scenes of a pagoda building in a landscape setting. The interior drawers have a floral and bird motif and the doors are of cockerels with chrysanthemums and the top of the chest is with ho-ho birds. Each of the drawers is lacquered throughout with gold lacquer on the interior and the sides and bottom are with black lacquer. It has some missing lacquer on the lower portion of the front doors. It dates to the early 19th century. Size: 34 ¾" high x 39 1/4" wide x 20 ½" deep (88.3 x 99.7 x 52.1 cm)
