This dish is one of a series produced by Incolay. It is "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?" which is a love sonnet by William Shakespeare. It was sculptured by Roger Akers and produced in a wonderful Tourmaline blue .
The famous trademark "Incolay" originally meant "In Colored Layers". Incolay Stone is a combination of quartz minerals such as Rose Quartz, Sapphire Blue, Sardonyx, Carnelian, Onyx and Banded Agate, combined to produce beautiful colors and elegant pieces. The White Relief Artwork is inlaid by individual artists, and the variegated background is stratified. The Studios of Incolay developed the process and manufactured many decorative items such as this Decorative Dish, Desk Valets, and Fancy Cigar Boxes. These items were not made in huge quantities and have become collectable.
