The Wood family of potters dominated the Staffordshire china markets for many years. The company originally started in 1715 near Burslem England and was viable well into the 20th century. Throughout the years many Wood family members led this historic company by manufacturing the finest and most beautiful china available.
This 10 & 1/2 inch oval tureen was manufactured between 1907 and 1910. It was decorated in the classic flow blue design using a transferware method. The swags and circles of the popular "Venice" design reflects the classical tastes of that period. This covered vegetable tureen is in excellent condition and free of chips or cracks....however there are a few minor manufacturing anomalies which were quite permissible for potteries of the period.
