MAKER: Duncan Miller

AGE: Probably made around 1893 or 1894

These two pieces of EAPG have matching patterns but are different diameters. Both are in very nice condition, and the larger one may actually be a spooner. Both have the classic zipper/slash base which is on top of a star-burst bottom. The etching is clean and sharp and there are a few minor table use marks and scratches within the stained area and on the very bottom.

Early American Pattern Glass, or Victorian glass is pressed glass tableware that was made only during the Victorian period ca 1850-1910, in America, and in "sets" such that all of the pieces in the set matched in design. While the wealthy of that period would have used blown glass and china from abroad, this "pressed ware" as it was called commercially, were the dishes used by the "everyday housewives".

Nearly all early glass was hand made, and as a result may have light surface lines and swirls (often called straw marks) which are the result of the production methods that were used. Some items will have included glass bubbles and mold seam lines .
