The artistry involved to make some of the china dishware produced during the last century is difficult to appreciate. The skill and effort required to accomplish such a feat is enormous. The colors, the lines, and the composition are so accomplished that it seems nearly impossible for one person to have painted the dish. This pretty celery dish features lilacs in bloom with their green, leafy foliage. Two small pierced handles and a gilded edge, complete the dish. Part of the decoration was a transfer, but it was finished with hand painted flowers and rim. This celery dish, made by Tirschenreuther (later Hutschenreuther, then Rosenthal) was made between 1927 and 1930. It is clearly marked with the company logo and an unidentified studio's logo on the bottom.
