This lovely old bowl is English Welsh. It was made nearly 200 years ago, in a time when ceramic techniques had not been developed. It has some flaws, such as small chips on the footed base, and there are manufacturing anomalies, however, to have survived this long is a minor miracle in and of itself. The impressed pattern on the bottom of the bowl and on the bottom of the base, really add a bit of class to this nice old bowl and the hand painted pattern is bright and pleasing. The top of the bowl has a gentle ruffle and there is some honest table wear to the bottom of the bowl. There is also a tight hairline on the edge which may have been done in firing...but this is a very nice old, old bowl.
