Royal Bayreuth was founded in 1794 in Tettau, Bavaria. The company is well known for it's superior, high-quality porcelain items. This pretty pitcher decorated with a scene of two merchants negotiating. On the inside of the rim is printed "Ye Old Crown and Sceptre" perhaps indicating a series. Although it looks hand painted, the decoration is actually transferred, but it is done with such skill and care and it's very hard to tell. It is stamped in blue with the #2 mark, which is the most commonly found mark; circa the late 1800s to pre-World War II era. It is about a one quart size.
