SIZE: 9 & 1/2 by 6 & 1/2 inch negative

COLOR: Black & White

MATERIAL: Celluloid

ORIGIN: U.S.A.

AGE: Our Guess ...late 1800's

CONDITION: Delicate

SPECIAL NOTE: I scanned the negative and reversed colors for the display photo. The photo will come with the negative.

The negatives we are offering were acquired at an estate auction. They appear to be from newspaper archives. The text that accompanies the image is interesting and telling, but conclusions about the negatives themselves are difficult. This one reads in part " A POWDER MONKEY ON A DEEP SEA CRAFT" "This smart little ""Monkey"" is a sailor, every inch. In the old navy, the powder, before the days of fixed ammunition was brought up in canvas bags or powder buckets and during an action, these brave little fellows were constantly on the run from their divisions to the magazine." etc..................
