Camark is a contraction of Camdon (County) and Arkansas. In 1927 Alfred P. Tetzschner, a native of Saxony, Germany, created several new lines, including the Futuristic/Modernistic line. This line was influenced by the movement later known as Art Deco. These pieces were beautiful but costly to produce, and the line was discontinued in 1929. The company closed in 1983 after many years of successful operation.
