For sale is this original 1946 Mickey Mouse watch with original package insert. The watch runs well and keeps time. We do not have the original leather wrist band, and the watch should be cleaned and oiled. The dial has one small spot where the paint has deteriorated, and the crystal is slightly yellowed, but this is a very nice and collectable old watch.
A LITTLE HISTORY: In 1933, the first Mickey Mouse watch model was made by the Ingersoll Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury, Conn. A collaboration between Waterbury and Walt Disney Productions brought about the Mickey Mouse Watch. This venture rejuvenated the failing watch manufacturer and promoted Mickey Mouse and his movies.
Because of the involvement in the World War II, production of Mickey Mouse watches ceased from 1943 until 1945.
Production began again in 1946 with a new type of rectangular case, without a second hand. The Mickey image was also changed to reflect the more modern movie image. The company was now US Time, but the identifiable Ingersoll name was left on the dial and box package. The original box was yellow, and the original price tag was $ 6.95.
