For sale is this "well played with" Ohio Art Company children's top. Colors are sharp and clean, but there are many bumps and bruises. It works well, which is a testament to its sturdy construction. The top is about 7 inches in diameter and 7 and 1/2 inches tall. This top is probably vintage 1940's to early 1960's.

Ohio Art began in 1908 when Henry Winzeler started a manufacturing company in Archbold, Ohio. He named the new company the Ohio Art Company which reflected his interest in art.
In 1912, the company moved to Bryan, Ohio and had success with the Cupid Awake/Cupid Asleep picture frames. That year Ohio Art also installed metal lithography equipment and began to produce wood-grained metal sheets, which were used to manufacture picture frames.
Ohio Art entered the toy business in 1917 and with a toy windmill and then a "climbing monkey" in 1919. As the American toy industry grew during and after World War I, Ohio Art's toy production expanded to include colorful tea sets and drums.
During the 1960's Ohio Art introduced the "Etch-a-Sketch" which is still enjoys popularity. The company is still in business.
