An unusual story for the birth of a company....The Buffalo Pottery Company was started in Buffalo, New York, in 1901 as an offshoot of the Larkin Soap Company. John Larkin and Elbert Hubbard sold soap and started Buffalo Pottery to make dishes that would be used as premium gifts from Larkin Soap. Over the years Buffalo produced many different kinds of pottery for commercial uses such as railroad dining cars , hotels, restaurants, and cafes.
