The lovely and gentle pastel flower arrangement lends a classy air to these Syracuse China sauce dishes. The pink and maroon flowers spring from green leaves that are a beautifully displayed bouquet. The pattern is Coralbel and the china is in the Virginia shape. The dishes are accented by platinum and green trim. These pretty little bowls are about 5 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. Some reference material dated this pattern to 1944, but this set looks unused. The mark on the bottom dates these bowls from between 1927 and 1960. We will be listing several other pieces of this China so it would be eligible for combined shipping in some instances. This is an entire set of 8.

Syracuse China Corporation, was a manufacturer of fine china. The company was founded in 1871 as Onondaga Pottery Company (O.P. Co.) in New York. The company initially produced earthenware as did most pottery companies of that era. After the development of vitreous china initial marketing targeted hotels, restaurants, and railroad dining cars and was very successful. Because of Vitreous China's popularity marketing was expanded to large stores and the general population. Vitreous ware was a durable, pure white, glazed china that could be decorated with Syracuse's proprietary method. It is resistant to chipping.
